I came to realize that I had let my blog slip by the wayside for so long. Well, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. It's not like there's anyone knocking down my door to see inside my head anyway. But I had also come to know, through some new structure in my life, that it is essential to get s**t out of my head on a regular basis. It's like septic tank treatment: if it's not done on a maintenance schedule, then I'll wind up with a whole backyard full of, well, you know.

So I figured, what the heck am I going to blog? I had asked myself this question in the beginning but, looking back, I was in no shape then to know any sort of feasible answer. I am barely able to formulate an answer now, but at least I can think more clearly. For now, I think I'll stick with the premise that I have no idea what this blog means to me, other than a place to collect my not-quite-so-mortal-thoughts. I thought about what I like to watch on TV. I primarily watch Comedy Central, even though I get sick of their repetitious and pandering repartee sometimes. Other than that, I am more inclined to find something to giggle or chuckle at on CC, and that's what I need, more often than not, to get me through the day.

Then I thought about the fact that alot of what I chuckle at is so plainly evident to me on a daily basis. I thought about the comics who make me laugh, though most do for some reason or another. I ROFLMAO whenever I see a Lewis Black appearance; I really dig what he has to say, and how he says it. It just makes sense. Did you happen to see the CC editorial where he posited on the appropriateness of commercializing and capitalizing on the tragic losses of 09/11? He made me laugh by saying it but, as I lay in my bed trying to fall asleep later, the reality of his words punched me in my gut! Who the hell owns Hallmark anyway, Bin Laden? The Taliban? It certainly doesn't seem like Hallmark, or any of the profiteering companies involved in marketing America's tragedy, has given much sincere or heartfelt thought about the collateral emotional damage that may be incurred by this business move. There is certainly more to consider here than a fiscal bottom line.

I realize, though, that it must be handy to have a national event possibly emplanted, via the interrment of so many violent deaths, smack-dab between the end stages of Summer and the juicy 4th quarter leaderboard of holiday activity. Look, for holiday profiteers, this could mean an almost solid 6 months of revenue (or more)! What a nice way to beef up their fiscal year! Come on!! If more people read Richard A. Clark's title (click this link and find a copy, you won't regret it!), there would be less romanticizing of this national disaster and, quite possibly, more forward thinking. As he avers, well, I can't say it like he does. All I can say is, if you read this much of my lil' ol' blog, you should definitely read his book, IMHO. Try not to judge or hate until you've at least read things from his POV. Obviously, it's in opposition to many opinions out there, and you all know how that goes. I'm just saying, IMHO, it's better to collect information for yourself, then interpret and decide what you've read, than to let someone else do the job for you and leave you with a canned opinion. You remember what they say about canned food and all those preservatives, right? Well, think how badly a canned opinion could affect your own brain. Just something to think about.

Well, I had told myself that I'd try to blog about an hour a day. It's been 58 minutes. So I'll take that as a pretty decent stopping place. Thanks for tuning in and reading, I appreciate it. Some comments would be nice, too, but beggars can't be choosers. Until next time, namaste.
